Tablet PCs Implemented in a China Middle School
When the bell rings, students in Jinpan School open their schoolbags to fetch their textbook. What they bring out are not regular paper textbooks, but a tablet computer, or digital textbook as called.
The tablet is a black 7'' one. You can find various Apps for textbooks, practice books, exam papers and notes. The most favorite for Xiaoming, a 11 years old, is that all the questions he had given a wrong answers are collected automatically for his late review.
Or he can submit these questions to his teacher, who then showcase it to the whole class if he think that it is a typical one.
During the whole teaching session, the teacher have not used a single piece of chalk. Instead, he interactes with students via tablet computers.
This is how the tablet revolutionize the classroom.
What has been changed also are the examinations. For a teacher, it is not an easy task to bind, score, rank and calculate statistics of exma papers.
Before the introduction of digital devices, it took 2 days to finish an exam that was attended by 400 students. However, it takes only 2 hours to have all the statistics like score rank, average score for any given question, score distribution and so on.
The parents are helped too. They can install an Android app, log into the school platform and view all the information, from score to teacher's comment, that they are supposed to know about their children.
"Digital schoolbag, with its children's tablet connecting to Internet, enable teacher and students instant interaction via network." Said the principal of Jinpan Middle School.
